AUTHORIZATION TO TELEVISE VANDERBURGH SUPERIOR COURT HEARING

ORDER

LORETTA H. RUSH, CHIEF JUSTICE OF INDIANA

On April 23, 2015, the Vanderburgh Superior Court will hold a hearing at 6:00 p.m. in Evansville Civic Center Room 301 on a "Petition for Statutory Determination to be Heard by Court Sitting En Banc" filed in hire City of Evansville. 82D01-1501-PL-000509.

The Honorable Leslie C. Shively, on behalf of the Vanderburgh Superior Court, requests permission pursuant to Code of Judicial Conduct Rule 2.17 to allow broadcasting of this hearing. Judge Shively represents that the parties and all participating members of the Superior Court consent to the broadcasting of this hearing, and that the hearing will involve only the legal arguments of attorneys and not the testimony of witnesses or the presence of a jury.

Notwithstanding Rule 2.17's prohibitions against broadcasting, televising, recording, or taking photographs in the courtroom and adjacent areas, a majority of the Supreme Court has voted to allow video and audio broadcasting of the hearing. The logistics regarding the broadcast shall be reviewed and approved by Kathryn Dolan, the Supreme Court Chief Public Information Officer, no later than April 20, 2015. Media personnel shall not be intrusive or disruptive to the judicial process.
